Trio is a portable speaker concept developed for Bang & Olufsen. The design is based on a formal analysis of B&O's existing visual identity, from which two recurring elements were extracted: circles and lines.
Three cylindrical speaker units joined at the center as a single object. The form has two positions: (1) Static — legs stand in a straight position, the speaker faces forward when placed on a bookshelf, console unit infornt of a wall. (2) Dynamic — form opens up and the legs spread like a tripod. It functions as a freestanding centrepiece, intended for table placement.
Trio carries an element of surprise.
